It's National Picnic Week apparently and since I need no excuse to celebrate food I thought I'd mark it with a suggestion for the quickest and easiest picnic ever!
As one who feels picnics are worthy of top quality food, not just curling sarnies and a flask of tea, I have dedicated many years to perfecting easy-pack tasty picnics ranging from giant feasts to small but sumptuous treats.
I have even been known to pack a picnic, complete with bubbly, for the 35 minute train journey into London from my village so I know that sometimes small but perfectly formed is the way to go.
So here we have a mini picnic for picnic week - perfect for a romantic sunset rendezvous or to nibble through your child's sports day.
I teamed Thomas J Fudge's Punchy Jalapeno Wafers with a tangy Roquefort cheese. The wafer box said "nibble with glass of beer" so I added one of my husband's favourite brown beers, a Cornish IPA called Proper Job.
For afterwards - simple! A box of Thomas J Fudge's marvellous milk chocolate flapjacks which you can transport in the box for convenience (or re-package in your own box and pass off as your own homebaked baked goods.)
Add a wicker picnic basket and a tartan rug, some wonderful scenery or a sporting event and voila! The perfect quick picnic.
