If you’re thinking of putting your home on the market, have you done everything that needs to be done to get it ready? If you think that you have, then great! If you’re not sure, then it’s a good thing to just double check. That’s why we’ve written this article, to give you an idea of some of the things that you need to have completed before you can have pictures taken, and your home be put up for sale. Are you ready to find out more? Take a look down below.
Windows
We’re going to kick things off by talking about your windows. If you know that your windows are not currently in good condition, or that they are not the type of windows that people are looking for, then you need to do something about this. Of course, you can always drop the price to reflect what someone is going to need to spend sorting out the windows, but we imagine you don’t want to do that. So, the best option is to speak to a window installer and see what they recommend.
Ideally, you want to get UPVC windows fitted as these are durable, and they stand the test of time. They are also incredible at keeping drafts out of your home, which is what they are for! Sure, it might cost you a bit of money, but it’s better that you do this, than lose money on your house sale.
Garden
You also need to get outside and sort the garden out. We know that this doesn’t sound like an appealing task, especially if you are someone who has let your garden grow to an insane degree. But, your house is never going to sell if people think that the garden is going to be a nightmare for them to maintain. You need to show that it is possible, and how incredible it looks when it’s done properly.
Repairs
Finally, you need to make sure that you are completing the right repairs around your home. If you don’t complete the necessary repairs, then you run the risk of your home being viewed as a fixer upper. This is going to make it far more difficult to sell your property for the right price in the future. There are lots of different repairs that could be relevant for you as a homeowner. For instance, you might want to focus on the roof. This is a big issue and if there’s a hole in your roof, it will lead to further problems like dampness.
Alternatively, it might be something as simply as filling in holes in the walls or a bigger job such as replastering the entire living room. Whatever needs doing, make a list and work your way through it. You need to ensure you have the budget available for this as you don’t want to get halfway through a repair job and not be able to complete it.
We do hope you found this helpful and it gave you some reassurance that your home is ready to sell. Take your time and get it ready, then it will sell in no time.
