One of the better things to come out of the Covid Lockdown was that after years of hectic living and just grabbing stuff off the supermarket shelves, like many people I became more discerning about what products we use, wear and eat.
Unlike masks, elbow handshakes and social distancing arrows on the floor on the whole I have continued to live more mindfully and whenever possible choose recycled, natural and non-toxic choices as often as possible including my deodorant, shampoo and household cleaners.
I was excited to learn about a wonderful range of La Corvette liquid home cleaning products from French Soaps with natural, organic ingredients which will not leave you choking or fearing for the safety of your pets or children.
I was sent four of the 750ml La Corvette cleaning products to try in my own home (gifted) and was delighted to discover how effective they are.
La Corvette, a small three-masted ship used in the 19th century to supply raw materials to Marseille's soap factories, is a brand created by Savonnerie du Midi in 1894.
The Savonnerie du Midi is one of the last historical soap factories in Marseille to perpetuate the recipe and know-how of traditional Marseille soap. This factory is steeped in history and is located at the bottom of the Carmes valley, in the Aygalades district in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille.
Employing around twenty people, the Savonnerie du Midi is part of the Compagnie du Midi, which the family business PRODEF bought in 2013.
Accredited with "PME+" by ECOCERT Environment, an endorsement from the FEEF (Federation of Enterprises and Entrepreneurs of France) to promote French SMEs that contribute to maintaining local employment and are committed to a Corporate Social Responsibility approach.
I was particularly impressed with the natural glass cleaner which made short work of a large mirror Ive struggled to clean properly for a while. Even a swift wipe-over got the glass sparkling.
The natural degreasing cleaner is designed to dissolve fats and make surfaces shine is made with organic thyme and if you like a good general household cleaner there's the natural olive oil black soap spray which is effective but gentle enough to use on your houseplant leaves.
I was also sent a natural household vinegar spray which particularly delighted me. I'm a great believer in the power of white vinegar, especially when combined with bicarb of soda. White vinegar is a good weapon in the war against limescale which is a real problem with our hard water. This particular product also contains sage, thyme and lavender and is rather less eye watering to use than straight white vinegar.
I was also sent a traditional floor/dish cloth which could also be used as a tea-towel. It's thick, large and made with recycled fibre and totally vibes with my country kitchen look. It can be chucked into the washing machine to be used over and over again.
