Make homemade pizza using a bread maker

My kids absolutely love homemade pizza. I love it too as it's a really cheap meal which I can throw together quickly. I tend to make it when I'm going out to eat and it has the benefit of assuaging my guilt since what seems like a cheat to me is a treat to them!

Now on the wild off chance you own a bread maker and have not yet twigged that this is the easiest pizza making method ever I thought I'd share this simple recipe which my grown-up friends love too!

Using the dough programme on my bread maker doesn't take long so I often put it on as I leave to pick the children up from school then let them top the fresh-made base when they get in.

Homemade Pizza recipe bread maker

Ingredients:

For the dough:

1 cup water
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 3/4 cups strong white flour
1tsp dried yeast.

For the topping:

concentrated tomato paste
1 or 2 bags Mozzarella
couple of handfuls of grated cheddar
olive oil to drizzle

toppings of your choice - we like salami, cooked chicken (add BBQ sauce too if you like) peppers, mushrooms, ham, olives, anchovies, pineapple - not all at once of course!

I don't think I need to share the method really as it's so easy.

Basically, bung all dough ingredients in your bread maker and start using dough setting.

Remove dough at end of programme and stretch out onto a lightly oiled baking tray.

Top with tomato paste, cheese (tear the mozzarella rather than slice it - top tip from Gino D'campo) and any other ingredients of choice.

Drizzle pizza with olive oil - flavoured oils like garlic, basil or chilli are particularly nice.

If you are using delicate ingredients like proscuttio add them about 5 minutes before end of cooking or add with rocket or spinach as it comes out of the oven.

Serve! (these quantities feed 5 of my children easily especially if you serve with salad, coleslaw or beans)
