I'm well known for my appreciation of a good, well-crafted cocktail so when an invitation dropped into my inbox for the opening of new, 10-week pop-up bar and restaurant, Limin', in Old Spitalfields Market I couldn't say no.
Owner Sham has a smile which brings Trinidadian sunshine to even the gloomiest London evening and the rum beer (stored during production in former rum barrels) and cocktails bring a carnival atmosphere to this little corner of the historic market hall. There's a cosy indoor area and an extra seating area with a great view of the market.
There's food too. We sampled homestyle treats like accra with pineapple chutney, pholourie with tamarind chutney and alou pie with cucumber chutney, all with a hint of fire to bring the warmth of the Carribbean to London.
Limin' (named after the Trinidadian term for hanging around with friends) is only there until Christmas so pop down with your friends and enjoy some warm and friendly hospitality, Trinidad style.
Disclaimer: We enjoyed an evening of food and drink free at Limin for the purpose of this honest review.
