Mr Lee's Porridges -Super Fast, Healthy, Allergen Free and Tasty!

It's long been known that porridge makes a good healthy breakfast but the convenient instant varieties are not always the healthiest, often containing quite high levels of sugar. Now however, Mr Lee’s Noodles, the award-winning healthy on-the-go noodle brand has launched three delicious healthy allergen free Mr Lee’s Porridges, fulfilling founder Damien Lee's desire to expand their range of products after he sadly passed away this year.

In May 2021, Mr Lee's widened its offering with a new vegan, low sugar porridge as a healthy, no nasties breakfast solution. The porridge is gluten friendly and certified vegan, as well as low in sugar. The porridge comes in three flavours:

· So Very Berry, a blend of three grains with real pieces of strawberries, raspberries and goji berries which will give you energy to start your day right.

· Salted Caramel for thosewith a sweet tooth but still wanting a healthy breakfast. A blend of three grains, naturally sweetened with coconut blossom sugar.

· Finally, the Original flavour, a blend of three grains for a delicious traditional creamy porridge that you can tweak to your preferences.

Andy Chu, Executive Chef at Mr Lee’s Noodles, who developed the recipes alongside Damien comments: “We’re really excited to be able to offer a new strand of product here at Mr Lee’s. Stemmed from Damien’s passion about healthy, but gourmet food, a breakfast option was a natural progression in the Mr Lee’s product line. Damien was the ultimate cancer warrior, staving off the disease five times with the help of changing his way of life and diet, hence creating a healthy noodle pot. He was involved in the new product development and the future of Mr Lee’s until the day he died and would’ve been so proud to see the Porridges come into fruition.

He added that they've  more exciting news in the pipeline with new launches this year, making sure they live up to Damien’s belief that we all have the right to quick, honest and tasty food.

The porridge will be available on Amazon, the Mr Lee’s website, vending machines and Ocado at the RRP of - £2.25

We were sent all three flavours to try and my porridge loving girls aged 15 and 20 were happy to join me in a taste test. I'm always keen for them to eat and was hoping they likes the porridge as it is perfect for quick breakfasts and snacks. Teens always seem to be hungry!

Prep really is simple.

  1. Remove the foil top.
  2. Add hot water up to the line marked on the inside of the cup.
  3. Stir and leave for 4 minutes during which time it thickens and softens.
  4. EAT!

I tried the salted caramel, both of my daughters went for very berry and we all sampled the three grain.

Mine smelled delicious - a little like a caramel rice cake. The So Very Berry was a wonderful colour and there was a generous portion of fruit in it. The Original 3 Grain pot was a wonderful texture and you could almost feel the health benefits just looking at it.

All were pronounced delicious although the overall winner was the Salted Caramel, possibly because of it's sweetness which we loved. I loved that we didn't need to add any extra sugar and very much enjoyed the warm glow of eating something healthy without worrying about allergens or hidden nasties.

·Mr Lee’s use the best available ingredients in all of its products. All of the food is free of hydrogenated fats and artificial ingredients. 100% tasty, 0% nasty is their mantra.

Currently there are six gluten-free flavours, with two of them suitable for vegans (registered by the Vegan Society). Mr Lee’s are certified by Coeliac UK and Sugarwise.
