Why You Should Book a Luxury Holiday Home in the Peak District

When my children were younger we were always on the hunt for holiday accommodation  which could happily house or larger than average family. We have some very happy memories of vacations spent in mobile homes, lodges, chalets, apartments, houses and hotels and once unhappy memory of a grim and grubby French caravan which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

We've been crabbing, fossil hunting, rock pooling and pond dipping. We've walked through bluebell woods, down shallow streams and across sandy and stoney beaches. We've climbed, hills, trees and ancient city walls and whatever the weather we have had fun.

We discovered that self catering works particularly well for our autistic family members and so we've already booked a short break in a luxury unit in a particularly beautiful area of England with our youngest.

One thing we have learned on our travels is that the UK has some of the most beautiful countryside, more history than you can shake a stick at and some amazing communities ranging from bustling cities to picturesque villages.

From north to south, east to west there is so much to explore above and beyond the landmarks overseas tourists normally make a bee line for.

For example holidaymakers staying in Luxury Holiday Homes in the Peak District  can explore dramatic hills, limestone valleys and charming towns like Bakewell, birthplace of the Bakewell pudding (which we always called a Bakewell tart) featuring crumbly pastry, jam and ground almonds.

Drive, hike or bike across Bakewell's medieval arched bridge, visit Chatsworth House, Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and explore the ruins of the Magpie Mines where lead was mined for over 250 years.

It's a gorgeous area of England whether you are a domestic visitor or flying in from overseas and the great thing is this kind of holiday is perfect for just about every type or visitor, group size or age range.

Imagine a romantic couple's break with a visit to an ancient pub and a sunset walk in jaw-dropping scenery.

Imagine a romantic couple's break with a visit to an ancient pub and a sunset walk in jaw-dropping scenery. Or a family holiday where children are free to run and jump and maybe even get a bit muddy. Older kids? Earn Great parent or Grandparent points by taking them to Alton Towers theme park. Maybe you are empty nesters and fancy a fun trip with friends? Go antique shopping, visit a local brewery, hire bikes or go climbing. Or if you are as keen on that kind of physical activity as me you could find a quaint teashop and decide for yourself if you prefer jam first then clotted cream or cream then jam on your scones.

The great thing about the Peak District is it is perfectly placed to go high-end shopping in some of Britain's coolest cities, or browse ancient markets in tiny villages. You can enjoy high octane activities or sit watching rivers meandering past while you picnic.

Book now and enjoy autumn walks, Christmas shopping in new locations and winter wanderings in frosty fields. Or look forward to seeing spring lambs, or spending long summer days relaxing with friends, family or solo.
