But don't worry, relaxing doesn't have to come at the expense of your health. There are quite a few easy and simple ways to remain healthy while travelling. If you're planning to travel long-term, your health should be your priority. Read the following tips to stay healthy while indulging and enjoying the most of your trip.

Walking is not only fun but an exercise as well
Choosing to walk whenever you can, whether it be using the stairs instead of the elevator or walking to the train station instead of hopping on a metro, can do wonders for your body. Relaxing is fine until your vacation is all about sitting in one place and not moving for hours. After all, walking around the destination you've travelled to is the best way to explore and have fun.

2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Most people forget, or purposefully avoid, drinking water so they don't have to be worried about finding toilets. Not drinking enough water can single-handedly destroy your vacation. Not only can dehydration provoke headaches and lethargy, it can also lead to constipation. Carry a water bottle with you all the time and be sure to stock up on extra water before going to a place where there's no safe drinking water.

3. Balance your diet
There are two things you should keep in mind when it comes to your vacation diet: reducing your consumption of unhealthy foods and drinks, and snacking healthy. When it comes to indulgences like sweets, the key to remaining healthy is consuming them in moderation as they can make you feel tired and disturb your sleeping pattern.

Eating healthy is not as difficult as you might think. It all comes down to choosing the right travel food when travelling, eating healthy snacks will balance out your over-indulgence on vacation. Eating your veggies and reducing your meat intake is also an efficient way to remain energetic throughout your trip.

4. Don't miss out on SLEEP

Catching up on sleep is important while travelling

Travelling exhaustion is real, so listen to your body and take plenty of rest. Sleeping adequately is the key to remaining healthy and happy during your vacation. The effectiveness of your immune system depends on how well-rested your body is.

Always try to sleep for a minimum of eight hours a night to increase the chances of your body being able to fight off sickness-causing bacteria and viruses.

5. Always carry sun protection
You are not on your vacation to stay inside and will be spending a lot of time under the sun. Sun safety is not just limited to the summer season, it's important to protect your skin from sun damage throughout your trip. Always wear sunscreen with minimum SPF 15 or more if you're skin is extra sensitive. Reapply the sunscreen as frequently as the bottle label directs. Also, wear good quality sunglasses to protect your eyes.

6. Don't forget to sanitize
It's always healthier (and safer) to always be prepared for all situations unsanitary. Apart from walking all day and coming in contact with people, things, and what not all day, sanitizing becomes important for places where you have no access to sinks or soaps.

Be especially sure to clean your hands before and after eating. Always carrying wet wipes and sanitizers for unexpected situations is one of the best ways to protect your health on holidays.

Last but not least, don't forget to enjoy your trip. Even though sometimes things might not go according to plan, trust me, if you follow all the tips above you're already prepared for the worst. If something does go off the plan, learn from the experience and try to get back on track. You don't want the trip to go sour because of one error. Having a positive attitude is the healthiest way to enjoy a trip. so just relax and don't stress yourself out.
