Three Unique Coffee Recipes for Busy Mums

As a working mum, my day is very busy right from the moment the alarm goes off, and I have just a few minutes to make a nice cup of coffee for myself.

My morning begins when I wake my children at 7am then I give them some time to wake up slowly. This gives me time to stretch and get up to make my cup of coffee. I prefer having coffee even before brushing my teeth. It’s an excellent way to get a busy day started.
What is better than a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee? Nothing is even close to that early morning coffee boost. It gives me the strength to cope up with the day and get stuff done without freaking out. Dealing with finding that missing PE kit is much easier after my caffeine hit.
I think a happy life is all about finding balance, building wealth, and making the best cup of coffee as quickly as you can.
Let me share with you my personal easy and unique coffee recipes for busy mums. I am sharing these as iced coffees because I like them more this way but, all three of these can either be made hot or cold.

  1. The pumpkin shot latte
So, everyone has a different preference for how strong they like their coffee or how they like to brew their coffee. How I like to make my coffee is either by pulling a couple of shots from my capsule coffee machine or brewing it in my cafetières (fancy word for a French press).
You don’t need anything fancy, I just got one of the cheapest ones I saw recommended on Darkroast Doctor. I always try using as natural, real food products as I can, so I add actual pumpkin in my iced latte.
Since I make this cold I mix my sweeteners and flavours in a separate little bowl. But if you are making the hot version of this drink, go ahead and mix these ingredients into your cup before putting your coffee in.
Ingredients:
  1. Pumpkin puree
  2. Pumpkin pie spice (optional)
  3. Sweetener
Here are the steps to start:

  • Add 1 tablespoon of real unsweetened pumpkin puree in a bowl
  • Add pumpkin pie spice blend and mix well (this is optional)
  • Add half a tablespoon of your favorite sweetener to the mixture
  • Mix all of these ingredients really well
  • Put two shots of coffee in the espresso machine (you can add coffee of your choice)
  • Mix, the coffee with the pumpkin mixture, make sure there are no chunks left
  • Pour the whole mixture in a cup and add ice cubes. Add milk at the end if you like.

You can use an electronic mixer to really mix everything together at the end. I personally like mixing with a blender because it gives a nice and foaming texture to the top of my latte. Sometimes on top of the foamy texture, I add a pinch of pumpkin pie spice it’s for some extra garnishing. Try it I am sure you will love it, it takes less than 5 minutes to make, and it is so yummy, spicy and very pumpkin-y- perfect for beginning the day.

2. The touch of Mexican mocha
This one is inspired by a friend who went on holiday to Mexico and discovered Mexican hot chocolate. She made it for us at a bonfire party and it was so spicy and warm that it warmed me from the inside out.

Ingredients:
  1. Drinking Chocolate
  2. Cayenne pepper
  3. Milk
  4. Sugar (optional)
Here are the steps to follow:
  • Brew fresh coffee in a French press
  • Start by adding some drinking chocolate in a cup (Usually I add two tablespoons)
  • Add a pinch of ground Cayenne pepper to it
  • When the coffee is made brewing in the French press add it to the mixture
  • Mix well together and add a little bit of sugar if you like
  • Pour some milk on the top and again mix well
Voila! Enjoy this excellent coffee recipe for busy mums. It takes only a few minutes to make. This recipe is the best thing to start a day in cold dark winters.

You can definitely add some cream on the top of this coffee since it's a luxurious warming treat.

3. The Nutty Maple latte
This is my favourite recipe. It works really well with almond milk which is great for those who cannot tolerate dairy products.
Ingredients:
  1. Almond paste
  2. Maple syrup
  3. Steamed milk or almond milk
Here are the steps to follow:
  • Add two tablespoons of almond paste in a cup (Avoid artificial flavouring)
  • Put the almond paste inside the microwave for ten seconds to bring out the nutty flavour
  • Add one tablespoon of fine quality maple syrup and mix it well with the almond paste
  • Add coffee in the cup and mix whisk it all together
  • Add some steamed milk or almond milk at the end
You can make steamed milk pretty quickly on your stovetop, but I prefer using a steamer, it’s easier and saves time.
I really enjoy the fantastic nutty almond flavour mixed with maple syrup. I hope you guys enjoyed my coffee recipes for busy working moms. You can always change the recipes (ike substituting regular milk for milk alternatives like soy or almond milk) and customize a little bit according to your taste and preferences.
