11 Musical Instruments That Every Music Beginner Can Learn To Play

Music has an important role in the evolution of humans. In ancient times, man created primitive flutes from animal bones and used stones and wood as musical instruments. Music is food for the soul. When words fail to express feelings, music takes over. It has the power to light up our lives without having to speak. Music is our ultimate partner on our way to work, at a party, doing chores, or during a bad day.

Similarly, playing a musical instrument is just as rewarding as listening to it. It enables you to show your creativity and express your emotions. Today, you can take music lessons in-person or at home according to your convenience. Most music lessons are one-on-one, but some instructors teach small groups of two to four students.

When talking about music, different countries conduct music classes using different means. In some Asian countries, music tutors who have experience of more than 50 years teach students in verandas of their houses. Whereas, in other countries, there are specified music schools where kids and adults enroll through proper registration and follow a timetable of their classes.

You can even find music classes online today. Search online according to your area, for example, music classes in Colorado. During Covid times, many institutions held online classes as well. This was a great chance for people to learn music as leaving the house wasn’t an option then. If you wish to learn to play music, then here is a list of all the musical instruments that beginners can easily play.

A Xylophone is a simple instrument that young children can play easily. Most xylophones nowadays are designed with bright colors and animations, which draws children’s attention.

A ukulele is an excellent instrument for beginners, specially for children aged between 8-10. The nylon strings make it easy to play, and the instrument itself is inexpensive. Once the learning begins, children will benefit from hand-eye coordination and will be playing songs in a matter of weeks.

  1. Drums

Drums are the heart of any musical concert. Their beat makes everyone dance and enjoy to the fullest. These days, children in elementary, middle, and high school are encouraged to play these to help them be physically and mentally active. Due to the potential for noise, parents may be hesitant to purchase a drum set for their children. Although it is not the quietest instrument, the energy and thrill gained by playing it are worth it.

  1. Violin

Playing violin may seem to be a bit challenging as a beginner, but you know what they say; practice makes perfect. After taking a few classes, you will be capable of playing any tone and pitch that you set your mind to through coordination and perseverance.

  1. Guitar

A guitar can be played solo or in groups. It teaches important hand-to-hand and eye coordination skills. It has several types, including electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. Often, people are also drawn to the guitar because of its ‘cool’ factor. This basic instrument teaches children the fundamentals of music.

  1. Flute

The flute is a soothing and highly portable instrument that is easy to learn and does not cost too much money. It can also serve as a stepping stone to more advanced instruments. Though primarily a classical instrument, it has been adapted to other genres and served as the foundational instrument for the 1970s rock band Jethro Tull. People learning to play flute should practice keeping their hands and arms in a lifted position for extended periods.

  1. Trumpet

The trumpet is unquestionably the best first brass instrument. Students willing to learn this instrument must start with breathing practices first, as playing the trumpet requires powerful lungs.

  1. Clarinet

Many students begin their musical education with a recorder in elementary school and then transition to the clarinet. It is a woodwind instrument that, like the flute, is small, lightweight, and versatile. The clarinet is a common instrument in both classical and jazz orchestras.

  1. Cello

Cellos for younger students aren't particularly large, but they become heavier as the player gets more experienced. Along with the violin and viola, it is a key string instrument used primarily in symphony orchestras and chamber quartets. A cello can accompany almost any instrument, and it also has some solos in its repertoire.

When choosing a musical instrument, you should always listen to your gut feelings. Do not purchase an instrument simply on the recommendation of others if you do not have a strong will to learn it. Always choose the one that sparks your inner artist, and you will never get bored of playing it!
