I am new to the delights of Watford Palace Theatre and keen to spread the word about what's on at this delightful gem, just out of London in Hertfordshire.

During the next few weeks the theatre is offering an unforgettable blend of musicals, comedy and family entertainment.

I am shaking down my sparkles ready for one of my favourite films and shows of all time- Priscilla Queen of the Desert (12th - 16th May), a heartwarming and extravagant story of three friends on an outback adventure.

Looking for laughs? Kane Brown: Crowd Work (21st May) delivers an unscripted and interactive comedy experience while The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) (25th - 27th May) brings the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s comedic reinvention of all 37 plays. I first reviewed this show when I was a print journalist  and I'm excited to see this new, updated show. Expect Hamlet performed backwards, Titus Andronicus as a YouTube cooking tutorial, and all of the History plays turned into a chaotic football match where the crown is kicked from king to king. Throw in lightning-fast costume changes, sword fights, outrageous improvisation and the result is a wildly inventive and hilarious celebration of Shakespeare.

Like the bard's work this clever production will keep generations entertained even if you studied Shakespeare a looooong time ago like me or are facing your English GCSE imminently.

At the end of the months Watford Palace Theatre presents Boyband in the Buff starring Gareth Gates (29th May) who takes audiences on a nostalgic journey through ‘90s and ‘00s pop hits.

More comedy next with The Comedy Store Players (30th May), the world-famous improvisation troupe from Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Closing the sensational season will be Gyles Brandreth: Can’t Stop Talking! (31st May), a witty one-man show from the award-winning raconteur and This Morning star.

Watford Palace Theatre has great road, rail and bus access and plenty of parking a short walk away.
