Play Crazy Golf at PLONK in Camden Market, London

As if Camden Market in North London isn't cool enough, visitors and locals can now enjoy a game of crazy golf and a bevvy or two in a newly transformed quirky indoor UV wonderland, tucked away under the Victorian horse stable arches.

I went along this week to check out Plonk's new venue in Camden (GIFTED) with my other half plus my 20 year old daughter, home from Uni, and my 16 year old son who has finished school after the chaos of his GCSE year in and out of lockdown.

You might recall that I have played golf at a Plonk venue before, over in Peckham where there's  vintage arcade along with the crazy golf course - you can read about that experience here.

The new Camden locations is smaller and there's no arcade but there is a bar and although the space is small, the 9 hole course is laid out really well so that at no time did we feel crowded - our visit was when social distancing was still a thing so this was very reassuring.

The design is fab - lots of UV, day glo and mad features like this awesome tiki head plus floating "clouds" overhead.

There's a seven hit maximum, which means even when at full capacity you never get stuck behind other players for long.

The design of the holes is incredibly clever. Like at their other venues some of the holes are vertical as well as horizontal so you need some skills to complete within 7 attempts.

I'll confess that with one particularly tricky ball balancing challenge I gave up after three attempts before I ended up chucking my club in frustration. My daughter was much more patient.

That being said, children would still enjoy the experience but smaller people might need some assistance with the wall mounted holes.

We did manage a hole in one a couple of times- my husband was particularly proud of his hole in one trick shot. Check him out pointing to the ball. Trust me, he's smiling behind that mask.

The venue claims disabled access is possible while stating that some holes cannot be played from a wheelchair. There is bag storage behind the bar if like me, you end up buying a load of cool stuff on the way. (Vintage Levi 501s for £15? Yes please!)

You can book online for individual games or book parties or even rent the entire venue -check out the Plonk Golf website for details.

With four of us playing we got round the course in just over 45 minutes. We didn't deliberately play boys vs girls but the nice guy in charge spotted that the girls had beaten the boys. Yay!

It certainly added to everything else Camden Market has to offer -we enjoyed brunch at a rooftop diner, a drink outdoors at one of the pubs in the market, lunch from one of the street food stalls which we ate by the canal watching baby moorhens, gliding barges and a random punt with a guitarist playing in the front of it. And because it's us, we obviously also had some bubble tea. Sadly I could not squeeze any churros in.

Altogether it made a wonderful trip out which I can highly recommend for family, friends or even as. work bonding thing. Day or evening, there's always a great atmosphere in that area so if you are a tourist or a local give it a go.
