One of our top tips for when you are just starting to plan your day is to create a list of everything that you need to plan and then you can tick everything off once you have completed them. You will also need to sit down and think about your budget.

The average wedding within the UK costs around £32k however don’t let this put you off if your budget is only a fraction of this. You can still create a fantastic wedding on a smaller budget.  Just remember to keep to the budget you set, and don’t get carried away with things as it can be easy to go over your budget.

Hire a wedding planner
If your budget allows it, then this is one of our top tips to ensure that you save time planning your special day. Hiring a wedding planner will take all of the stress out of wedding planning and you can just liaise with them on what you’d like, and they will go away and find options for you. There are different options when it comes to hiring a wedding planner. You can hire them for the full day, or just one the day help, whatever your budget allows.

Share the important tasks with your partner
A lot of brides get carried away with wedding planning and the stress of it all, and also can sometimes find that they are planning the whole day themselves.

This shouldn’t be the case, as it’s you and your partner’s day, so make sure that you share the important tasks between you both, so that you are not doing everything yourself. You could give your partner the task of finding your evening entertainment for example, and by giving them something to do, it will help them to feel included within the planning process too.

DIY decorations
You don’t need to be a creative genius to create something simple yet elegant for your wedding day. There are lots of simple ways to decorate your venue on a budget that you can do easily yourself. Drapes are a great way to make your venue look elegant and are really simple to do as well as looking at lighting options that can really enhance the ambience.

Keep as organised as possible
If you are really trying to save time on your wedding planning it’s important to keep as organised as possible. We mentioned before about creating a list of tasks and things that you need to organise. You should add timescales to this as well, and try to be realistic with these as possible.

This will ensure that you’re not stressed about anything and that things all run as smoothly as possible. If you’re not sure where to start with this, have a look online, there are plenty of free guides and templates that you can download and print off. It’s a good idea to keep a printed copy somewhere up at your home as well so that you can see visually where you are at with planning everything and what else you need to do.

Limit your number of guests
This might be something that you are looking to do anyway now with things being restricted and guest numbers being limited, but it’s also a good way to ensure that you have more time to spend on other things. If you are making your own wedding favours then this is a great way to spend less time on wedding planning bits, and more time doing other things!
